Trophy homes: Alannah Hill’s fashionable property for sale

Acclaimed fashion designer Alannah Hill has listed her chic whitewashed St Kilda West terrace. Hill had paid $1.905 million for the home in 2013. Hockingstuart Albert Park agents Simon Graf and Paul Torok have set a May 20 auction date. They are marketing the home as The House of Love. The turn-of-the-century three-bedroom Boom Style Victorian home comes with all the fit-outs expected from a world renowned designer. A custom designed chandelier crowns the entrance hall complete with a VIP cherry red carpet. The property features an Italian inspired garden. The second level master bedroom space has a balcony. It all began for Hill in South Yarra back in 1980 when she started at Indigo Boutique in Chapel Street. She launched a new label, Louise Love, in 2015, to critical acclaim.

Brighton Bell design

Seccull House, the modernised, acclaimed Guilford Bell-designed home in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Brighton, has been sold by cardiologists Martin Hiscock and Silvana Marasco. The couple were only the third owners of the home, having paid $5.75m in 2013. It had $9m price expectations through Abercromby’s agent Jock Langley. Seccull House was built for William and Elaine Seccull in 1972, and was considered one of Bell’s most important works. The North Road home was renovated with the help of Bell’s younger business partner Graham Fisher. The sales campaign featured a photo shoot from Goldeneye Media.

Sorrento Block-buster

The polarising renovation couple Dea and Darren Jolly, stars of two series of Channel 9’s show The Block, have secured an unrenovated 1900 Sorrento cottage. Set on the main drag of Melbourne’s coastal playground, it sold for $1.88m through Sotheby’s International agents Rob Curtain and Danielle Vains. The purchase comes six months after the sale of their controversial Kew East rebuild for $2.908m after purchasing the bungalow in a similar rundown state for $1.395m in mid last year. The duo already have plans by architect Jane Merrylees, showing the proposed day bed on the charming veranda that looks out towards Port Phillip Bay through tea trees. A second storey would offer guaranteed water views.

Gold Coast upgrade

Gold Coast Titans director Darryl Kelly and wife Joanne have traded up on Admiralty Drive in Surfers Paradise. They’ve spent $7.7m on a four-level home, just along from their redundant home which remains on the market. Set on a 678sq m riverfront parcel, the five-bedroom home was caught up in the GFC which triggered an extended price plateau. The house notched up only a $700,000 gain in 10 years following its $7m trade in 2007. Michael Kollosche at Kollosche Prestige Agents sold the home. Now the agency has the listing of the Kelly’s former four-bedroom home with $4.95m hopes.
